· 1993 donated an outside basketball court to John Burroughs
Elementary school.
· Established the John Starks Foundation in 1994 to provide
academic scholarships for Tulsa Public School seniors.
· Awarded key to the city of Tulsa by Mayor Susan Savage
who proclaimed July 12th “John Starks Day.”
· 1997 received the distinguished Henry P. Iba Citizen
Athlete Award.
· 1998 New York Athlete of the year Award presented by
the Leukemia Society of New York.
· 1998 NAACP Community Service Award.
· 1999 Hale House Award for Caring.
· 2000 Donated $50,000 to Central High School to build
the John Starks & Callie West Fitness & Training Center.
· 2004 100 Black Men Community Service Award.
